Jónsi; one of the reasons we shouldn't hate Iceland, even if they do have a volcano that is grounding our planes or have helped towards the global recession. Jónsi, along with his band Sigur Rós have been producing special music for ten years. Music you hear when you are watching award ceremonies or nature documentaries. Now he's going it alone for a bit.
With Sigur Rós on an 'indefinite hiatus', Jónsi has gone solo. His new album 'Go Do' is written part in English, Iceclandic and Hopelandic, a made up language Jónsi used whilst writing songs which was particularly prevalent on ( ), Sigur Rós untitled album. The amount of English on the album is startling and one which is a clever move from an artist who clearly wants a bigger audience for his music. He's even written the title track for the 2010 Dreamworks film 'How To Train Your Dragon'. This year is likely to be a busy one for Jónsi.
This will be a big year for Jónsi and I would like people to support the artists I write about because I believe that they all deserve successes and need our support to continue to produce such fantastic music. I'll leave you with the obligatory youtube video. This is a live version of the first single and title track, Go Do.
