Everybody has an act or two that invoke anticipation, a near constant need to be informed about any breaking news relating to them, especially in the case of possible new releases. Today's post concerns one of mine.

It was 2007 when the 'local hip hop' duo of DJ Sabzi and MC Geologic, better known as Blue Scholars, last released a full length album. Since then have been a few EP's and a 'redux' of Bayani (the 2007 release). Rumour has it that the first half of 2011 will see, though nothing is set in stone yet, the release of the pair's next studio album, entitled, 'Cinematropolis'. Geologic has said that it's a bit of a concept album, and will focus on a theme of cinema, film and moving pictures, addressing the effects they have had on our lives.

Another point of interest is that this will be the first release for the originally Seattle based pair since Sabzi moved to New York earlier this year.

Below is a live recording of new material from the Scholars. It's named after the Japanese cult film maker 'Seijun Suzuki'. It has a more electronic heavy bass line than previous work from the pair.

I have also shamelessly embedded a second video below, its from Bayani and is by far my favorite track from the duo, 'Joe Metro Music'.
