Search the internet for a producer by the name of 'Mike Swoop' and you will not find much. By that, I mean you will not find much about the man himself. He does not appear to have a myspace or facebook fan page, and the majority of website's that do reference him do not appear to provide much in the way of a biography or any background information.

All you can really determine with any degree of certainty is that he's an instrumental hip hop producer from Minneapolis, and on the 2nd of February he released his debut album; 'New Love'.

You can listen to the album for free on his bandcamp page;

www.mikeswoop.bandcamp.com

Adopt a relaxed mood and check it out. Do not forget to make a purchase if you become a fan!

After a thorough listening, the conclusion is that it is a perfect chill out record. Light, steady drum loops set the tempo. Slow moving, melodic base lines are blended with jazzy synths or live instrumentation to establish a sense of calm.

Upon visiting Swoop's bandcamp page you will notice that track 7 'Let It Go' features the Rhymesayers/Soultools MC Toki Wright. This takes us on to today's other piece of breaking news (although on reflection, Swoop's release of 'New Love' happened last week, therefore it does not warrant the title of 'breaking news', but it is still 'important news' none the less).

Yesterday saw an announcement that Mr. Wright will be releasing an eight track EP called 'BlackMale' on February 16th. It will be free to download. However, there will be an option to make donations, with all proceeds going to relief efforts in Haiti after the recent tragedy. Another point of interest concerning Wright is that he recently featured on I.B.E's track 'Make The Road By Walking' from his mixtape entitled; 'The Feel'. He also appeared in the track's video which is posted below.

Want to learn more about Toki Wright before 'BlackMale' is released? Check out his 2009 album; 'A Different Mirror'. Below is the video for 'Devil's Advocate', one of the single's from the album.

In a nut shell, Toki Wright is about as conscious as hip hop gets, portraying real insight and intelligence.
